Season 1
The pyramids of Giza
In the winter of 1880 a twenty-seven-year-old Englishman moves into an empty rock tomb beside the Great Pyramid and starts measuring. For two years. What Flinders Petrie finds destroys the theory he came to prove — and founds modern archaeology. Season one retells that survey stone by stone: the groove in the hardest granite on earth, the door that vanished, the chamber that sealed itself.
- One source, not a web searchEverything rests on Petrie's own 1883 survey report — not on a retelling of a retelling.
- Disagreement, not verdictsWhere scholars disagree, we say so. Open questions stay open.
- No mysticismNo aliens, no hidden chambers that don't exist. The real record is strange enough.
Sleep aid
What is a documentary to fall asleep to?
A sleep documentary is a long, evenly narrated documentary that is not designed to keep you awake. No arc that yanks you upright at two in the morning, no music swelling towards a climax, no cut that doubles the volume. Just a calm voice, a flat bed of sound, and material interesting enough to let your thoughts let go — and harmless enough that they don't start circling.
That is what separates this from the usual bedtime stories for adults: at Night Atlas Media the content is real. Season one follows Flinders Petrie's 1880s survey of the pyramids of Giza — the measurements, the margins of error, and the arguments between scholars about what those numbers mean. Stay awake and you learn something. Fall asleep and you did it right.
Every episode is free on YouTube, no sign-up, in full length. They work as a sleep aid, as background for long working nights and as an audiobook on the move. One to three and a half hours per episode — long enough that the end credits never wake you.
About
What makes Night Atlas Media different
A sleep aid doesn't have to be boring. It just must not be exciting.
Real research
Season one is built on Flinders Petrie's 1883 survey of Giza — measurements, margins of error, arguments between scholars. No conspiracies, no invented sensations.
Built for falling asleep
Even pacing, no volume jumps, no cliffhanger before the break. The tension lives in the material, not in the edit.
Long formats
One to three and a half hours per episode. Long enough to actually fall asleep — and to pick up the next night where you drifted off.
Going multilingual
German is live. English, Russian, Spanish and Turkish follow — the same stories, natively told in each language.
How to listen
Four things that make falling asleep easier
Quieter than you think
Low enough that you have to reach for the words a little. That small effort tires you faster than silence.
Screen off, sound on
The episodes are built for listening. The picture is calm, but any light delays sleep.
No timer needed
Episodes run one to three and a half hours and end without loud credits. Nothing wakes you up.
Pick it up the next night
Nobody finishes an episode in one night. Jump back to where you drifted off.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Are the episodes free?
Yes. Every episode is free on YouTube — no subscription, no sign-up.
How long is an episode?
Between one and three and a half hours. Most recent episodes run about ninety minutes.
Do I have to watch them in order?
No. Every episode stands alone. If you want the story from the start, begin with "The Secret of the Great Pyramid".
Why is there no dramatic music?
Because every crescendo wakes you up. The soundbed stays deliberately flat and the voice carries you evenly through the night.
Is this suitable for children?
It is made for adults — calm, but demanding in content. Nothing disturbing, but not a toddler's bedtime story either.
Will there be topics beyond Egypt?
Yes. After the Giza season come the cosmos, natural history and the great unsolved questions of science.
How often do new episodes appear?
Usually weekly, most often on Sunday around midday Central European Time. Upcoming dates are listed as "scheduled" on YouTube.
Can I listen offline?
YouTube Premium lets you download every episode. There is no separate app, and none is planned.
Who narrates the episodes?
The narration is synthesised and then adjusted by hand for pacing, pauses and emphasis. It is labelled as AI-generated content on YouTube.
May I use the episodes in my stream or podcast?
